Amazon Web Services (AWS) is preparing to launch an AWS cloud infrastructure Region in Taiwan by early 2025. This new AWS Asia Pacific (Taipei) Region will offer local and international customers – including developers, startups, enterprises, and various organizations – the capability to run applications and securely store content within Taiwan.

AWS plans to invest billions of dollars in Taiwan over the next 15 years, demonstrating its long-term commitment to the region.

Prasad Kalyanaraman, AWS’s Vice President of Infrastructure Services, emphasized that the new AWS Region will enable customers to leverage AWS technologies such as compute, storage, databases, analytics, machine learning, and AI to drive innovation and enhance service delivery with reduced latency.

Premier Jung-tai Cho of Taiwan expressed gratitude for AWS’s diverse cloud services, highlighting Taiwan’s robust industrial clusters, particularly in semiconductors and ICT. He anticipates that the new AWS Region will stimulate industry growth, create high-quality jobs, and support sustainable development.

The Taipei Region will comprise three Availability Zones, expanding AWS’s extensive global cloud infrastructure. These zones ensure business continuity and low latency, each equipped with independent power, cooling, and security, interconnected through ultra-low-latency networks, ensuring high availability for applications across multiple zones.

AWS offers a broad range of cloud services including analytics, AI, IoT, machine learning, mobile services, and storage. The new AWS Region will cater to customers requiring data residency in Taiwan, providing secure content storage and lower latency.

The AWS Partner Network (APN), which includes over 130,000 partners worldwide, will benefit from the new region. AWS partners in Taiwan, such as CKmates, eCloudvalley Digital Technology Group, Going Cloud Co., Ltd., MetaAge Corporation, Netron Ltd., and Nextlink Technology, are expected to utilize this development to offer advanced solutions and services to their clients.

This significant investment by AWS in Taiwan’s digital infrastructure aims to enhance cloud service capabilities, promote industrial expansion, and foster innovation across various Asia Pacific regions
